Resulta fascinante comprobar el estado en el que se encontraba América a los treinta años de ser descubierta. En ese instante histórico es cuando llegan los navíos de Pánfilo de Narváez al golfo de Méjico. Tenían nociones geográficas de la zona pero muy confusas y equivocadas, lo que unido a las desfavorables condiciones climatológicas, hizo que solamente cuatro entre los seiscientos expedicionarios lograron sobrevivir a tan desafortunada expedición. Tras ser encontrado casualmente por otros españoles, que formaban parte de otra expedición, es conducido frente a Hernán Cortés. Finalmente, los cuatro supervivientes, tras diez años de aventuras increíbles por el Nuevo Mundo, desembarcaron en Lisboa.
